The Bs finally got some points on the board with a 2-1 win in their third league match of the season. As expected Hendon were a much improved team over last season and the Bs had to work very hard for the win. Yet again the Bs were far from their best but the second half performance was more effective.

The Bs had Joe back for his first full game of the season. Russ started at the back and, at times during the first half, he seemed to be driving the team on his own. The Bs were on the back foot too much in the first half. The midfield had a real struggle to hold the ball, the defenders were under more pressure as a result and were often too quick to clear without any control and thought and the strikers had very little to work with but didn't do enough to link up or work the Hendon defence. So the Bs spent too much time chasing the play rather than controlling it.

Chances were few for both teams. Adam, Jordan and CJ had the only shots. At the other end Hendon tested Stephen more and had two free kicks around the box one of which was delivered very well and headed wide, the other was placed over the bar. This heralded an unfortunate pattern where the referee awarded Hendon all but one of the free kicks for often innocuous challenges. As a result the Bs had to defend several free kicks around the box.

Hendon took the lead after 18 minutes when one of their players collected the ball behind Josh and lobbed it over Stephen into the far corner. But the Bs got a timely equaliser thanks to work from Shomari and Adam that saw Adam drive through the defence and flick the ball home.

At half time the Bs made three changes. Josh, Shomari and Jordan came off. Nick took over at left back, Luis came on and played on the left wing. Thomas replaced Jordan in centre midfield and Sid went up front. The team had much more of the ball this half and there was some better link up play. Thomas and Adam did well in the centre. Luis had several chances on goal though Hendon’s keeper had a much easier morning than Stephen. Hendon tested Stephen with much better chances. Nick played very well at left back.

Sid made a big difference up front as he used his strength and speed to good effect to work Hendon’s defence. Ten minutes into the half the Bs switched Russ up front in place of CJ. Joe played centre back and Jordan came on at right back where he was more effective. With Russ and Sid as strikers and Luis looking to shoot where ever he could the Bs looked more dangerous. Shomari returned this time on the left where he took over from Conor.

The game looked to be heading for a draw until Russ rose to head home a well delivered corner from Nick eight minutes from time. The game took a bizarre twist at the end as the referee found five minutes to add on despite the fact that there had been no injuries or stoppages during normal time. The Bs held on to take the points.

Luis was man of the match as he showed a lot of drive which helped spur the team and he was most keen to test the keeper with several shots on goal. But there were also very good displays from Stephen, Russ, Adam, Thomas and Nick.
