A very disappointing result for Headstone. Having dominated the match in terms of possession and chances they were caught by a scrappy goal 7 minutes from time which gave St Josephs their first points of the season.

Headstone started the match positively and dominated throughout the first half. They pinned St Josephs back and kept the play in the St Josephs half. At the back Daniel and Ciaran were rarely threatened but looked confident and composed when called on to clear. Ahead of them, Jordan, George, Russell and Brett worked hard but found it hard to create clear cut chances. Rory and Conor came on midway through the half for Brett and Russell but despite constant pressure and six corners, they never looked like beating the St Josephs goalkeeper.

At the start of the second half, Russell went up front in place of Rory and Brett came back on for Jordan. Headstone still pressed and Russell came closest to scoring with three shots that went close. George's in swinging corners put St Josephs under pressure and from one Russell turned, beat the keeper, but saw his shot rebound off the post.

As the half wore on, and Headstone pushed further forward, St Josephs had a couple of chances to break. But Daniel, Ciaran and Jordan Wright kept them out. Then with just seven minutes remaining, St Josephs won the match with a scrambled goal after Headstone failed to clear the ball from the penalty area. Headstone still pressed forward but St Josephs nearly doubled the score with a high shot from the edge of the area that came back off Jordan Wright's crossbar.

Although Headstone pushed forward again they couldn't get the breakthrough and St Josephs celebrated their first points of the season. Russell was man of the match for coming closest to scoring.
