Technicolor beat Headstone for the second time this season in a match that was switched to Technicolor’s ground because Headstone’s was unsuitable. Headstone were playing their second match in two days but unlike the swamp they played on the day before, this pitch was muddy but fairly firm and dry. It was also the biggest pitch they have played on this season and as in the first match against Technicolor they seemed to struggle to cope with the extra space.
Technicolor’s win was deserved because they passed the ball confidently and controlled the play better. But as in all their games this season Headstone made their opponents battle all the way for the victory. As ever the defence of Jordan Wright, Daniel and Nathan fought for every ball. They were well supported by George, Jordan Coleman and Russell in midfield and kept Technicolor at bay until well into the second half. Although Technicolor pushed forward and won many more corners throughout the match they couldn’t break Headstone down. Jordan Wright produced some excellent saves and organised the players well.
At the other end Brett’s pace was a threat to Technicolor especially as he wasn’t closely marked. But he couldn’t make the most of any of the breakaways.
Technicolor got the breakthrough in the 35th minute with a good passing move and a shot that had Jordan well beaten. Conor then came on for Jordan Coleman in midfield but 8 minutes later Headstone were 2-0 down after a goalmouth scramble saw Technicolor poke the ball home.
Typically Headstone kept their heads up and near the end the Technicolor keeper almost presented Headstone with two goals. First in trying to clear the ball he let it roll straight to Brett whose quick shot cannoned off the post. From the goal kick the keeper gave the ball straight to Conor who beat a defender but shot just wide. Shortly after Russell also had a shot against the post. Daniel was man of the match for a heroic performance at the back.
