Greenford Celtic Tournament - 23 May 2004We entered two teams in this tournament. They played well but struggled to convert the chances they created and neither made it to the knockout stages. The Teams
A Team The A team played in Group A against Greenford Celtic, Bessingby B, LNER and St Andrews A. They lost their first two matches against LNER and Greenford 0-1. However, things improved after that with a 1-1 draw against St Andrews and a 1-0 win over Bessingby in their final match. Michael Prendeville got both goals. This meant they finished with 4 points. B Team The B team played in Group C against Ealing Utd, Pinnstars, Yeading and Greenford Celtic. They started really well against the weakest team in the Group, Pinnstars. The Bs totally dominated the game and Jordan Wright only touched the ball once. The whole team passed the ball well and created chances but just couldn't finish despite going really close near the end. The match ended 0-0. The next two matches against Ealing and Yeading were much tougher but the Bs battled well in both but lost out 0-1 and 0-2 respectively. Going into the final match against Greenford the Bs knew they were out of the tournament but still gave Greenford a hard match. The Bs went a goal down in the first half but got the goal they deserved from a long range shot from Ciaran McDougall from his own half. The ball looped high in the air and landed in the corner of the net. It was the last kick of the match which ended 1-1. This meant they finished with 2 points.
