Awards Evening - 27th June 2008

The Under 14s Awards Evening took place on Sunday 27th June at Broadfields from 7 pm. There was a great turnout and huge thanks to everyone who supported the lads as they collected their awards. The food was excellent. We are really grateful to Althea and Arlene for all their work in cooking the great spread.

This was a really special occasion due to the success of both teams. The As were crowned Champions of Division 1 (despite the incredible efforts of the Harrow Youth League to deny them) and the Bs received their trophies as Runners Up of Division 4. We are the only age group in the whole of Headstone Manor where both teams won trophies and promotion this year.

There were squad trophies for all the players and the special awards chosen by the players and the managers. The Bs introduced some extra awards for the first time and the As collected trophies for winning the Parkfield tournament and for success on their tour to Holland. Five boys collected 7 year awards and the Bs also had two more winners of the Jack Petchey prize. The winners were:

After having the first winner of the club's Jack Petchey Award scheme last year, the Bs had two more winners this year, Luis Meneses Zerpa and Thomas Green. They each won £300. Luis's win bought each player a training shirt and Thomas's win will go towards buying tracksuits for the players. Both players received a superb certificate at the event and all the winners were invited to a special presentation at the Mermaid Theatre in October.
