Under 15 team Awards Evenings - 22nd May and 12th June 2009Due to the size of the two squads and the difficulty of fitting everyone in we decided to run separate Awards nights for the As and Bs this season. The Under 15Bs Awards Evening took place on Friday 22nd May at the club house and the Under 15As was on Friday 12th June. There was a very good turnout and loads of food for everyone to enjoy. The B team AwardsThanks very much to Sue Parr and Margaret McBreen for organising the event and to everyone who provided prizes for the raffle which helped us to raise further funds for the squad. The Bs have had a fabulous season achieving more than everyone but the most optmistic could have hoped for and it was good for players and families to come along to celebrate their success and look forward to more next season. There were squad trophies for all the players and the special awards chosen by the players and coaches. Two players collected 7 year awards and there was yet another Jack Petchey prize winner. We paid tribute to Brett Swinton Bland and Daniel Lynch, two players from our original 7 a side squad, who left us this year and will be remembered for the tremendous contribution they made to the team over years. We also welcomed Nick Kyriacou, CJ and Shomari Bridgewater who have joined us this year and have added a lot of strength to the squad. The winners were: Players' Player of the Year - Russell ButlinManager's Player of the Year - Joe Jordan Most Improved Player of the Year - Josh Street Top Scorer - Russell Butlin (22 goals) Best Defender - Jay Shah Best Midfielder - Luis Meneses Zerpa Best Trainer - Kyle Giles Brown The B team received their Season Review Booklet with their squad trophies. You can view the B team booklet here. This year, two of the Bs received their 7 year awards. This meant that the Bs have now presented 12 players with 7 year awards. The following boys received a medal and a certificate: The Bs had their fourth Jack Petchey winner this year, Russell Butlin. They prize was £300 which went towards buying tracksuits for the players. The A team awardsThe A team had their most successful season surpassing all their expectations. Having just won promotion they had a great year in the Cups reaching the Final of the Middlesex County Cup, where they were narrowly beaten by holders Mill Hill Rangers A, and the Semi Final of the League Cup, where they narrowly lost to Bessingby. They also had a great winning run in the Premier Division where they finished runners up by just one point to reigning champions Mill Hill (again). As the season drew to a close the As finished in style with a tremendous win in the Catalonia Cup tournament in Spain. The high standard achieved by the As was recognised when scouts of professional teams approached six of the players. Jack Middleton who has been superb in goal all season has now signed for QPR but all the others opted to remain with the As. Josh Lapompe was the U15s fifth Jack Petchey winner in the Autumn. They prize was £300. All of this was celebrated at the As awards night. A big thank you to everyone for supporting the team and for everyone who organised the event.
