Under 16 team Awards Evenings - 21st May 2010

For the first the club ran a presentation night for all the 11 a side age groups at Broadfields. The A team were there to celebrate finishing the season in style as Premier League runners up. The Bs had their own separate party at the clubhouse as this was their farewell party.

The B team Awards

This was a very special night for all the players, parents and coaches as the Bs said goodbye after 9 tremendous years. We had a fabululous turnout for the players and their families and 50 people were there to enjoy it. Thanks to everyone for making such a memorable night.

A big thank you to Sue Coleman who catered the event and who's uncomplainingly put up with 9 years of weekends devoted to her sons and husband involved in football. Of course, in a few weeks time she'll probably be ruing the day Andy decided to retire and will be pleading with the club to take him back!!!!

Special thanks also to Errol Brown for his brilliant coaching and devotion to the team and to Douglas Jones, Steven Howden and Anup Shah for all their help on Saturdays and matchdays.

There were loads of trophies to give out - squad trophies for all the players, special awards chosen by the players and coaches, a 10 year award and three Jack Petchey prize certificates.

The winners were:

Players' Player of the Year - Ali Vas
Manager's Player of the Year - Stephen Howden
Most Committed Player (Kevin Duffy Award) - Russell Butlin
Most Improved Player of the Year - Jordan Coleman
Top Scorer - Russell Butlin (14 goals)
Best Defender - Ali Vash
Best Midfielder - Thomas Green

Russ won a new award which Kevin Duffy introduced this year for all the age groups - the Most Committed Player Award. Russ won this for his outstanding leadership, loyalty and commitment to the team. He's been a star for us, a great captain which has justifiably earned him the respect of all the players. Russ has deservedly taken the chance to switch to the A team next season.

The B team received their Season Review Booklet with their squad trophies, a special longer version this season to the mark the 9 year story of the B team. There was also an Awards Night Show that ran throughout the evening.

Thomas Green was our first 10 year award winner. Long service is the key to the Bs story and we celebrated the fact that so many of our players have stayed with us for so long. 14 players from our current squad have been with us for 5 years or more. 5 current players have 9 years service - Russ, Jordan, Conor, Joe and Josh. 3 players - Francis, Ciaran and George have 8 years and 2 players - Luis and Nick have 6 years.

The Bs had three more Jack Petchey winners, CJ, Jay and Adam.

The A team awards

The A team had a great finish to the season and, for the second year running, finished runners up in the Premier League by just one point to champions Watling Club.

This was celebrated by the As at the Club Awards Night at Broadfields. A big thank you to everyone for supporting the team and for everyone who helped organise the event.

Manager's Player of the Year - Joshua Lapompe
